South Africa 1-2 Cameroon result - Goals from Junior Tchamadeu and Christian Kofane secure Indomitable Lions' progression to AFCON quarter-finals

Cameroon squeezed through to the AFCON quarter-finals with a narrow 2-1 win against South Africa in Rabat, thanks to goals from Junior Tchamadeu and Christian Kofane.

South Africa dominated the opening 20 minutes of the game, having two great opportunities to open the scoring which they failed to convert. 

Cameroon grew into the game and took the lead just after the half-hour mark with a slice of luck, when Carlos Baleba's deflected shot fell nicely into the path of Tchamadeu, who finished his effort into the bottom corner. 

Two minutes into the second half, they doubled their lead when Aboubakar Nagida's fantastic cross was met by Kofane who placed his header into the corner past Ronwen Williams. 

Cameroon goalkeeper Devis Epassy was forced into two good saves as South Africa showed some threat in the second half, before Evidence Makgopa met an inviting cross and finished from close range to set up a nervy ending to the match. 

Cameroon held on to secure their place in the AFCON quarter-finals where they will play the hosts Morocco at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, after they secured a 1-0 win against Tanzania earlier in the day.

South Africa are starting to show some frustration now. Lyle Foster, after being dispossessed, manhandles the Cameroon defender to the ground.

As a result, he is shown a yellow card by the referee.

Mbeumo delivers a delicious ball over the top to Kofane, who is one-on-one with the keeper and he hits an attempt first time, but it is well saved to deny him.

That was the opportunity to seal the game!

Nagida, who replaced Yongwa after just 20 minutes, is replaced by Christopher Wooh. Olivier Kemen comes on for Danny Namaso.

Sipho Mbule replaces Relebohile Mofokeng.

Bryan Mbuemo leads a quick counter for Cameroon, as he drives forward before playing a nice pass to Arthur Avom in the box. Ronwen Williams charges out and saves his effort which was heading for the bottom corner.

Teboho Mokoena strikes a free-kick which is well saved by Epassy, who parries it away for a corner.

A double change for Bafana Bafana. Aubrey Modiba and Evidence Makgopa replace Samukelo Kabini and Oswin Appollis.

A great chance for South Africa! Samukelo Kabini attempts a well-hit left footed shot from the centre of the box, but Devis Epassy dives down well and saves the effort heading towards the bottom corner before it is scrambled away.

Nkosinathi Sibisi is shown a yellow card after a mistimed challenge.

The conditions have become harder with the heavy rain and wet surface.

Christian Kofane doubles Cameroon's lead! Aboubakar Nagida whips in a fantastic cross from the left blank, with Kofane showing good movement in the box to meet the ball and place his header into the corner past Ronwen Williams.
