Jurgen Klopp to Real Madrid goes 'cold' with Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe 'at odds' - Euro Transfer News

Spanish outlet El Periodico, running with the revelation, writes: "In recent months, especially after Xabi Alonso's dismissal in January, Real Madrid has once again approached the German coach [Klopp].

"Sources at the club have confirmed to El Periodico the contact with Klopp, who initially insisted on his stance of staying away from coaching".

El Periodico continues by revealing, however, that Klopp's managerial preferences for this proposed role - more in line with Alonso's than past successful incumbents Zinedine Zidane or Carlo Ancelotti - made Real president Florentino Perez "grow cold" on the idea.

That was not the only reason for the apparent lack of fit, though.

The article adds: "The other major obstacle that rules Klopp out as a candidate for the Real Madrid bench is the presence of Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe.

"Klopp champions a style of play based on 'gegenpressing'. This style demands, above all else, total defensive commitment from all its players. A demand that neither the Brazilian nor the Frenchman are accustomed to meeting, either at Real Madrid or with their national teams.

"This style is completely at odds with two players whom Alvaro Arbeloa, the current Real Madrid coach, exempts from defensive duties."

The report concludes by stating that the names on the Real managerial table instead are Max Allegri, Didier Deschamps and Mauricio Pochettino.

Yan Diomande is reportedly Liverpool’s ”top target” to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, while a Manchester City mainstay has been tipped for a summer departure.

Diomande, 19, has made a strong impression in his first season with RB Leipzig, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances.

According to Sky Germany, Liverpool are leading the race to sign Diomande, and there have already been ”concrete talks” between his agent and the Premier League club's management.

However, it is reported that Leipzig are looking for a fee of €100 million (£87m), with Paris Saint-Germain also having shown interest.

Liverpool spent a record £446m last summer as they signed Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike, among others.

Hansi Flick has confirmed his desire to continue as Barcelona head coach.

Flick was appointed as Barca boss in 2024, and the club won La Liga and the Copa del Rey in his first season.

With Barca looking set to make it back-to-back La Liga titles, Flick, whose current deal expires in 2027, isn’t planning on going anywhere.

"This is my plan [to renew], of course," he said at a press conference.

"I have also said that, and this is 100% honest, this is the last step in my career. For me, it feels really good at the moment."

Barca haven't won the Champions League since 2015, and they were beaten in the quarter-finals this season by Atletico Madrid.

Ferran Torres is facing an uncertain future at Barcelona, according to AS.

Torres, 26, has enjoyed a solid season, but is reportedly not a favourite of Deco, the club's sporting director, having been signed by his predecessor, Mateu Alemany.

It is reported that he might be offered as a "bargaining chip” in a potential deal for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.

Torres’ current deal with the club expires in 2027, and Barca are also waiting to see whether Robert Lewandowski departs as a free agent in the summer.
