Mainoo contract talks stall amid Napoli links
As per Calcio Mercato, discussions between Kobbie Mainoo and Manchester United over a new contract have stalled, with the player potentially set for a loan move to Napoli.
Mainoo reportedly asked to leave United on loan in the summer, having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford since the arrival of Ruben Amorim.
Calcio Mercato report: "In a few months, Mainoo could become Napoli's transfer opportunity: a box-to-box midfielder.
"With his contract expiring in 2027, United are only open to a loan move, and the midfielder has expressed openness to a move to Serie A on this basis.
"[Antonio] Conte would have a player who can bring both quantity and quality to the Azzurri midfield, doing a bit of [Kevin] De Bruyne's and a bit of [Andre-Frank Zambo] Anguissa's work.
"After initial contact with his team to try to negotiate a contract renewal, the talks have been put on hold because the player is finding it difficult to play and would like clarification on his future."

Vinicius Jr to Chelsea reports rebuffed
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has thrown cold water over claims that Chelsea are considering a move for Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "Guys, what I can tell you is it’s not about the quality of this player, it’s not about like or don’t like players like Vinicius. But Chelsea are going in a different direction.
"They’re going in the direction of Estevao, of Cole Palmer, of new signings like Deinner Ordonez.
"Chelsea are going in that direction; talented players, of course, also important players ready to make an impact, but in the case of Vinicius, the salaries and cost of the eventual deals would be massive. Chelsea are going in a different direction.
"I always say, ‘Remember the Victor Osimhen deal from summer 2024.’ Chelsea were in talks to sign Osimhen but they decided not to proceed because they didn’t want to change their salary structure.
"The salary is something really important when you mention Chelsea and when you mention transfer news at Chelsea."

Barcelona’s Guehi conditions revealed
According to Fichajes, Barcelona will only pursue a deal for Marc Guehi should the conditions of a deal be "reasonable".
The England international is in the final year of his contract at Crystal Palace, with manager Oliver Glasner having admitted the player will not sign a new contract with the south Londoners.
The Fichajes report reads: "Barcelona acknowledge that the Crystal Palace defender fits the profile they are looking for to reinforce the defence with a young, physical player with international experience.
"However, Barcelona is clear that it will not participate in a mass auction, especially with financially more powerful clubs willing to fully enter the fray.
"The Barcelona club indicates that the operation will only be considered if the conditions are reasonable and without an endless bidding war with European giants.
"Sources close to Barcelona indicate that the salary cap conditions every move, so any attempt to convince the player must come at the right time.
"The Barcelona sporting management understands that their room for manoeuvre will be reduced if clubs like Liverpool or Bayern Munich advance quickly."

Galatasaray interested in Rodrygo
Rodrygo, who was linked with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool last summer, may reportedly move to Turkish club Galatasaray in January.
Spanish outlet AS allege that Galatasaray would be open to the loan move should Real Madrid cover half of the Brazilian’s wages.
The publication alleged: "Galatasaray would be open to a loan deal for Rodrygo, provided Real Madrid allows him to leave and pays half his salary in instalments over several months.
"The Lions are looking for a versatile forward like the Brazilian, who can play on either wing and as a centre-forward."
