Manchester City linked with Enzo Fernandez, Marcus Rashford agrees Barcelona terms - Paper Round

The Mirror states: ”Enzo Fernandez has been revered at Chelsea since breaking the British transfer record following his 2023 transfer from Benfica but has become fiercely linked with an exit this summer. There are certain strings the former Chelsea chief may be able to pull at Stamford Bridge in taking certain talent from his old club this summer. 

”With Bernardo Silva leaving and City once again underlining their struggles at times without Rodri in the line-up this season, a versatile midfield recruit like Fernandez makes perfect sense, albeit one that's likely to cost more than £100million. With John Stones heading for the Etihad exit after 10 years with City, a stern centre-back addition looks likely to be a priority.”

Chelsea are reportedly ready to launch a legal battle against Manchester City if they do not receive adequate compensation for manager Enzo Maresca. 

Stamford Bridge officials are said to be furious over allegations that the Italian held discussions with their Premier League rivals while still under contract.

The Mail explains: ”Chelsea are set to demand compensation from Manchester City should they appoint Enzo Maresca – and take legal action if it is not forthcoming. Stamford Bridge officials were left incensed with the Italian amid allegations he had spoken with City while still in post with them. 

”Should a figure not be agreed, the west London club could then complain to the Premier League, which would then investigate.”

Marcus Rashford has reportedly agreed to a massive pay cut in principle to turn his Barcelona loan spell into a permanent stay this summer.

The Manchester United forward is willing to take a 40% salary reduction, though structural details of the contract still need to be ironed out to assist the Spanish club’s finances.

The Daily Star writes: ”Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims Rashford has already agreed in principle to a three-year deal with Barcelona, but the terms need to be adjusted to finalise a permanent move. The England international's salary is reported to be 40% less than his earnings at United. 

”Mundo Deportivo reports Rashford sees altering the three-year arrangement as his 'only option' to remain in Spain. It is outlined that stretching his contract to a five-year deal would prove financially advantageous for the club, as it would enable the Catalan outfit to spread the transfer fee across a lengthier timeframe.”
