Napoli's sporting director, Giovanni Massa, has said Rasmus Hojlund's permanent move away from Manchester United is a "formality".

Hojlund joined Napoli on loan in the summer after United's big-spending summer saw forwards Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko arrive at Old Trafford.

The Denmark international, having struggled for goalscoring form under Ruben Amorim, has enjoyed great success with the Serie A champions, recording nine goals and three assists in 20 appearances.

Asked in an interview with Corriere dello Sport whether Hojlund's move to Napoli is a formality, Massa replied: "As of today, I think so."

"We did everything we could to sign him. There were more storied clubs interested, but his will was crucial, and we are proud of it."

Massa also revealed some of the clauses in the deal relating to Hojlund's permanent transfer.

"There's an option to buy and an obligation to buy if we qualify for the Champions League," Manna added.

"The player considers himself a Napoli player, and the same goes for us. This is extremely important."

Napoli sit third in the Serie A, with the top four at the end of the season securing a UEFA Champions League spot. There could also be an extra qualification spot for the Italian top-flight, depending on Italy's placement in the UEFA coefficient rankings, where they are currently in the top two.

Guehi prefers Madrid move

Spanish outlet AS is reporting that Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi would prioritise a move to Real Madrid if the Spanish giants try to sign him.

The England international was reportedly close to joining defending Premier League champions Liverpool in the summer, but the deal did not materialise.

Guehi has continued to be a key player for Palace this term, missing just a single match through injury.

However, his contract is set to expire in June, and reports from Spain are suggesting that he would prefer a move to La Liga over Liverpool.

Newcastle have struggled to find their best form in the Premier League this season, and are currently sitting 10th in the table.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus want to sign Tonali in January, but may have to wait until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
