A report in the Daily Express suggests Barcelona have agreed a deal to make their loan signing of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford permanent this summer.

Rashford has impressed during his time in Spain, scoring four league goals and registering eight assists since joining on loan in August.

And Barca are happy to trigger the reported £26 million activation clause to make the transfer permanent.

The Express writes: "Marcus Rashford is reportedly edging closer to a permanent Barcelona transfer, with an announcement date having already been set in principle.

"It’s reported by Spanish outlet Sport that Barcelona retain an interest in making Rashford’s move a permanent one, with suggestions his agent met with the club’s sporting director, Deco, earlier this month.

"Rashford is pushing for a permanent transfer, and is aware that he might have to make some sacrifices with his salary, given his United contract isn’t set to expire until 2028.

"Barcelona have endured well-documented financial issues in recent months, with the reigning Spanish champions planning to spread Rashford’s salary over a long-term contract.

"It’s reported that negotiations have been calm, and crucially, an announcement over a permanent move will be made at the end of the season, barring any significant setbacks."

Man Utd line up 'bargain' Casemiro replacement

Manchester United have identified Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye as a possible replacement for the outgoing Casemiro, according to The Sun.

The Brazilian is enjoying a fine campaign with United but has announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season.

Gueye is also in the middle of an impressive season and scored Senegal's winning goal in the Africa Cup of Nations final against hosts Morocco.

"Manchester United are keeping tabs on Villarreal star Pape Gueye as a potential replacement for Casemiro, reports suggest," reads the article.

"According to Foot Mercato, Man Utd have identified Gueye, 27, as a bargain solution to fill in for the 34-year-old during the summer transfer window.

"Manager Marcelino is confident Gueye will stay put at the Madrigal, where he has a contract until 2028.

"However, the Villarreal boss admitted he won’t be able to stop the ex-Marseille star if he decides to leave the Spanish outfit."

Tonali not keen on Serie A return

Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali will not be returning to Italy, states the Daily Mail.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Juventus in recent weeks, while Arsenal are also rumoured to be interested. Tonali joined Newcastle from AC Milan in July 2023.

The Mail writes: "Again this week there has been talk in his homeland of a summer move to Juventus for the midfielder. However, we understand Tonali does not see Serie A as the stage that will serve his career best in the coming years.

"The 25-year-old appreciates the improvement made in nearly three years at Newcastle playing under Eddie Howe in the Premier League, and attributes some of that to the strength of the English top flight, which has six teams in the Champions League last 16, compared to just Atalanta from Serie A.

"Tonali’s future on Tyneside is not certain, but Italy would appear an unlikely destination if he were to seek a move."

Amorim wanted by new club

Former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim could be the new manager of Brazilian club Vasco de Gama, according to The Sun.

Amorim left The Red Devils in January but could already have lined up a new job.

"Brazilian giants Vasco da Gama reportedly want Ruben Amorim to become their next head coach," states the outlet.

"Amorim is allegedly being lined up for a new job in Brazil. VDG-Cast claims that he is currently a target for Vasco da Gama.

"The Rio de Janeiro-based side are in the process of scouting a new boss following the departure of Fernando Diniz last week. Diniz was sacked by Vasco on Sunday following a 1-0 defeat to Fluminense.

"In the league, the club sit 17th in the table with just one point from three games."
