Real Madrid told £259 million bid not enough for Bayern Munich star Michael Olise as Chelsea hijack Inter's Marco Palestra deal - Euro Transfer News

BILD's Christian Falk reports for Bayern Insider that a move this summer is off the table, however, as the German champions prepare a lucrative new contract.

”It is TRUE: Real Madrid would like to have Michael Olise,” he writes, referring to the statement Los Blancos released in reference to the France international.

”But it’s not true that they have any kind of chance of signing the Frenchman this summer. Real Madrid publicly declared they haven’t spoken to the winger or Bayern Munich, and there is some background I can offer on this.

”The presidents of the club – on the one hand, Herbert Hainer from Bayern Munich, and on the other, Florentino Perez – are very close. They were at the dinner around the Champions League quarter-finals in Madrid and Munich, and now they have a strong connection.

”There was a clear sign from Hainer to his colleague and friend that Real Madrid have no chance of signing Olise. Perez, likewise, made a clear signal that the La Liga giants wouldn’t attempt a move without first informing Hainer beforehand. So, I don’t know where the rumours are coming from.

”So, they made this transfer pact – let’s call it the ”presidential pact”. At the moment, Real Madrid knows there’s no chance, even if they were to bid €300m (£259m). Also, the Spanish club are prepared to hold fire if Bayern Munich simply aren’t prepared to sell Michael Olise. That’s why the rumour mill should really be a bit quieter on this front.”

Falk’s report goes on to add that Olise ”will get a great [contract] offer once he’s back from the World Cup” and that this outweighs any talk of a move to Real, Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports in Italy claim that Chelsea have successfully hijacked Inter’s move for Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra, who was a breakout star of the season while on loan at Cagliari in 2025/26.

The 21-year-old Italy international looked set to join the Serie A champions, but is instead heading for Stamford Bridge after The Blues tabled a blockbuster bid.

”Palestra to Chelsea: the two clubs have reached an agreement in principle for around €57 million plus €3m in bonuses (£52m total) and 10% of a future sale," wrote Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia.

"This morning the final bureaucratic and legal details between the clubs, then the agreement with the player will also be formally finalised for five years at €5m (£4.3m).

”Inter stopped at a verbal offer of €45m plus €5m bonuses (£43m total) to Atalanta and €2.5m (£2.1m) per year for five years to Palestra, a proposal that was personally presented to the player at an afternoon meeting in Milan.

”In contact between Palestra and [Atalanta CEO] Luca Percassi, and after an effective courtship by Xabi Alonso, the player said he was ready to say yes to both clubs, leaving it up to the club where he grew up to decide which offer to accept, which was in the end the English one.”

Atletico Madrid are ready to reignite their interest in Tottenham Hotspur and Argentina centre-back Cristian Romero, according to Spanish outlet El Mundo Deportivo, after being rejected in their advances last summer.

”Everything has changed a lot,” the newspaper writes. ”After last season, [Tottenham] are considering selling the player. Some of his gestures in the final stretch of the season haven't gone down well in London, and they believe it would be best to end his time with Spurs.

”The arrival of two top-level centre-backs, such as Dutchman Robert van Hecke from Brighton and Argentinian Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth, could help facilitate the player's departure.

”Tottenham's asking price has dropped compared to last season, from €70 million (£60m) to €30 million (£26m). A considerable decrease. A market opportunity for a player that Diego Simeone loves.

”However, Atletico Madrid doesn't have the same needs right now as last season. The centre-back pairing of [Marc] Pubill and [David] Hancko is considered a reliable option at the club. [Robin] Le Normand would be the other centre-back. [Jose] Giménez and [Clement] Lenglet could leave. If they do leave and everything falls into place, Atletico could make a move for Romero.”

Guglielmo Vicario’s time at Tottenham could be up, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that a return to Italy with Napoli is on the cards.

”Vicario is more than just an idea. For [sporting director] Giovanni Manna and [head coach] Massimiliano Allegri, he is the perfect goalkeeper to begin a new chapter with the Azzurri. And Vicario is desperate to return to Italy to play for a top club and try to win.”

The report continues: ”Napoli, however, aren’t alone in the race for Vicario, as Juventus have also been working hard on him for some time. Last autumn, Inter took the first steps towards Vicario, before deciding to stick with [Josep] Martinez. Vicario is waiting for developments; at Tottenham they know how the situation is and how strong the lure of Italy is.

”Tottenham value Vicario at around €20m (£17m) and, with the right offer, would let him leave. Now it’s up to Napoli to decide whether to jump in straight away or first wait for the exit of one of [Alex] Meret or [Vanja] Milinkovic-Savic.”
