When does the transfer window open and close? Who is on YOUR club's summer wishlist?

Fans will have the FIFA World Cup to sink their teeth into, as well as countless pre-season friendlies to give them their club football fix.

There will also be countless column inches dedicated to the transfer window, with some of the Premier League's top teams eager to bolster their options in attack and defence.

With that in mind, here are the key dates you need to know, as well as some of the big names that the giants of English football could go after.

The first day of the transfer window differs from country to country.

La Liga and the Bundesliga will be able to complete new signings from July 1, with Serie A’s transfer window getting underway on June 29.

However, the window will open for English teams on June 15 before closing on September 1 at the revised time of 11pm.

The window has closed at 7pm on transfer deadline day for the last two seasons, but the change could mean even more late transfer drama as teams look to get their deals over the line.

Arsenal may have won their first Premier League title in 22 years, but they will be eager to strengthen so they can establish themselves as England’s best side for years to come.

Their two priorities are reportedly a left winger and striker to replace the Brazilian duo of Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners could go head-to-head with Barcelona in the race to sign Julian Alvarez, but he would cost a small fortune.

Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi could be a cheaper alternative.

England international Morgan Rogers has also been linked with a move to The Emirates to fill the gap out wide.

The Pep Guardiola era is over, and Manchester City need to avoid following in the footsteps of their rivals, Manchester United, who have suffered since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

To do so, they will need to strengthen, particularly in the heart of midfield and at right-back.

Elliot Anderson looks set to be at the centre of a transfer saga this summer, and City are reportedly interested.

His England team-mate Tino Livramento has been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium too, but Newcastle United would demand a high price for the defender.

Michael Carrick guided the club back into the UEFA Champions League last term, but he will have to contend with a far more congested fixture schedule during the 2026/27 campaign.

They will want to get some high earners off their books too, including out-of-favour goalkeeper Andre Onana and England international Marcus Rashford.

Their departures would free up funds for at least one top-quality midfielder, desperately needed to replace the departing Casemiro.

Anderson, Adam Wharton, and Sandro Tonali have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford, as has Ederson of Atalanta and Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney.

The Red Devils also need support at left-back, where Luke Shaw has proven to be too injury-prone to play across four competitions all season.

There is no clear favourite to provide competition for the 30-year-old, but Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell would be a superb signing if they could tempt him away from Selhurst Park.

Aston Villa will need bodies through the door if they are going to compete in next season’s Champions League, but keeping hold of their best players will also be important.

Morgan Rogers’ form was key to their qualification for Europe’s elite competition, and keeping him would probably be their best bit of business this summer.

Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott will return to their parent clubs after season-long loans, meaning they will want to add more cover in attacking areas.

Morocco international Abde Ezzalzouli could fit the bill after an impressive few seasons with Real Betis, while some reports suggest they could go after Newcastle’s Harvey Barnes.

Liverpool had a busy summer in 2025, bringing some huge names to the club.

However, they struggled to hit the ground running at Anfield, and now the club need to rebuild again following the departure of Arne Slot.

The Reds must replace the departing Mohamed Salah, but they are also short in midfield.

Wharton would be a great signing to help pull the strings for their new manager, while Yan Diomande and Michael Olise have been tipped as potential successors to the Egyptian king.

Chelsea have been relentless in the transfer market in recent years, but they are still in desperate need of a centre-back, a goalkeeper and a striker.

That could have been said at the start of every season since Todd Boehly's arrival, but Xabi Alonso’s appointment suggests that things could finally be about to change at Stamford Bridge.

At the back, they have been linked with the likes of France international Maxence Lacroix, while up front, Jarrod Bowen could prove to be an astute signing.

Mike Penders spent last season on loan with Strasbourg, and his return could mean the club avoid spending big money on a goalkeeper.

Tottenham avoided relegation on the last day of the season. However, a huge overhaul might not be required.

Spurs need to get a handle on an injury crisis that has run for two years - 23 and 27 first-team players missed games owing to injuries during the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons respectively. Address that and Spurs are a different team.

This is not to say some surgery is not required. Spurs’ squad-building has lacked coherence, but one, key corrective transfer could unlock the potential in N17.

Spurs’ biggest issue is ball progression. Marcos Senesi is illustrative of this. The defender – reportedly set to move to Spurs - completed 10 through-balls in the Premier League last season. The whole Tottenham team completed eight.

This is not to say Senesi will address those issues, but the stat is illustrative of the problem: Tottenham need a ball-playing midfielder. They have been linked with Eduardo Camavinga. The Frenchman – or a player of his ilk – should be the priority.
