Tottenham 'agree' £100m deal for Tonali
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali in a deal worth up to £100 million.
The north London club launched intense club-to-club negotiations late last month to secure the Italy international.
Once finalised, the deal will shatter Spurs' transfer record for the second time this summer, eclipsing the £85m guaranteed fee they previously agreed with West Ham United for Mateus Fernandes.
The Athletic reports: "Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United in a deal that could reach £100m.
"The north London club stepped up their pursuit of the Italy international late last month by initiating club-to-club contact with Newcastle.
"They have now struck a deal which, if completed, would be a new club-record transfer, eclipsing the potential £85m they have already agreed to pay West Ham United for fellow midfielder Mateus Fernandes."
United abandon pursuit of Mora
Manchester United have pulled out of the running to sign Tijuana's 17-year-old sensation Gilberto Mora, according to a report.
The highly-rated midfielder recently penned a long-term contract containing a strict £20 million release clause.
While club rivals Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona remain firmly in the hunt, Old Trafford chiefs have refused to meet the valuation for a player with just 50 senior appearances.
The Mirror explains: "Manchester United have pulled out of the race to sign Mexican sensation Gilberto Mora.
"But the teenager’s impressive performances have also attracted strong interest from some of United’s biggest rivals.
"These include neighbours Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
"The 17-year-old has just signed a new long-term deal with Tijuana. But the deal includes a buy-out clause of £20m, designed to secure him a move to one of Europe’s top clubs.
"And despite Mora’s huge potential, United will not be held to ransom over someone who has made just 50 senior appearances for Tijuana."
Arbeloa plots Real Madrid raid for Fulham
Incoming Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa is reportedly planning to utilise his extensive Bernabeu connections to plunder the Real Madrid academy upon his arrival at Craven Cottage.
Ahead of signing a three-year contract with the west London side, Arbeloa has earmarked highly-rated 18-year-old Thiago Pitarch, alongside midfielders Cesar Palacios, Manuel Angel and Jorge Cestero, to rapidly upgrade his new squad.
The Sun states: "Alvaro Arbeloa reportedly wants to sign a quartet of Real Madrid stars once he is unveiled as Fulham manager.
"The Cottagers are set to announce the appointment of Arbeloa on a three-year deal. And the ex-Real boss could milk his contacts book to turbocharge the Fulham squad.
"According to Marca, Arbeloa has his eye on four standout Real Madrid academy graduates. Thiago Pitarch, 18, is the most hyped of the bunch. Cesar Palacios, 21, and 22-year-old Manuel Angel both featured in seven Real games last term.
"The last of the four midfielders on Arbeloa’s hit list, 20-year-old Jorge Cestero, made five first-team appearances."
Newcastle look for Bundesliga pair and ask for Gray
Newcastle United are working swiftly to rebuild their squad for Eddie Howe ahead of the seemingly imminent departure of Sandro Tonali, with the club said to be in advanced talks over a move for Freiburg's World Cup star Johan Manzambi.
The club have also emerged as frontrunners for Hoffenheim's 20-year-old winger Bazoumana Toure, and even reportedly enquired about the availability of Archie Gray during their negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur over Tonali.
The Daily Mail reports: "Newcastle United are pressing ahead in their efforts to land new players for Eddie Howe.
"Talks are ongoing over Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi, and they are emerging as frontrunners for Ivory Coast winger Bazoumana Toure.
"Box to box midfielder Manzambi plays for Freiburg in Germany, and has caught the eye at the World Cup with his brace of goals against Bosnia and man of the match performance plus another strike in his country's 2-1 win over Canada.
"Toure is another 20-year-old who plays in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim.
"Newcastle have also asked about Archie Gray’s situation in talks with Tottenham over Sandro Tonali - but sources say they have stopped short of making a bid."
