England star Ellie Kildunne 'can't wait to get started' after joining 'the perfect club' Bristol Bears

England star and former Harlequins and Wasps back Ellie Kildunne hailed Bristol Bears as the ”perfect club” after signing for the Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) outfit ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Kildunne, who ended a five-year spell at Quins in May, joins a Bristol side looking to improve on last term’s disappointing eighth-placed PWR finish.

”Bristol Bears feels like the perfect club for me at this stage of my career," the 26-year-old told club media.

”The way the team plays is hugely exciting and completely aligned with how I want to express myself on the pitch.

"The ambition, the style and the belief within the group really stood out whenever I have played against them.

”I’ve always loved playing in Bristol – both for club and country.

"The World Cup semi-final at Ashton Gate was an incredible occasion and the fans there are hugely passionate and create an incredible atmosphere.

Bristol Bears Women are no strangers to marquee signings, having welcomed American superstar Ilona Maher for a three-month spell in 2025 before recruiting New Zealand captain Ruahei Demant the following season.

Capped 62 times by England women's national rugby union team, Ellie Kildunne is one of the biggest names in women’s rugby, having been named World Rugby Player of the Year in 2024 before lifting the World Cup a year later.

She also played a key role in England’s Women’s Six Nations Grand Slam triumph, featuring in every match and scoring five tries.
