Iga Swiatek adds former coach of Rafael Nadal and Emma Raducanu to her team ahead of 2026 French Open campaign at Roland-Garros

World No. 4 Iga Swiatek was not without a coach for long with the Poland star confirming that she has appointed Francisco Roig to her team following the departure of Wim Fissette. Roig was recently working with Emma Raducanu, but the duo parted ways to leave the Spaniard free to take on a new role with Swiatek, who is looking to regain some form in the lead up to Roland-Garros.

Iga Swiatek and Francisco Roig have teamed up as the clay court season begins, with the French Open not far away and the Polish player searching for some form. 

Swiatek found herself without a coach after parting ways with Wim Fissette following the Miami Open, where she lost her first match to Magda Linette.

Swiatek also lost in the quarter-finals at Indian Wells, in Qatar and the Australian Open, an indifferent run of form that has seen the now world No. 4 struggle for consistency.

But in teaming up with Roig, she has someone in her corner who knows what it takes to work with the best - especially on clay.

"Welcome to the team, Francisco! Very excited for this new chapter," Swiatek posted on social media, with a picture of the duo practising on indoor clay courts.

Roig was best known as a part of Rafael Nadal’s team for many years, the Spaniard watching over his compatriot's meteoric rise to the top of the men’s game along with Toni Nadal.

Roig has also coached Matteo Berrettini, before attempting to help Emma Raducanu rebuild her game following several injury layoffs.

He teamed up with Raducanu last August but the two parted ways in January following the Briton’s second round loss in Melbourne. 

Swiatek last picked up an individual title in Korea last September, although she was part of Poland’s triumphant United Cup team in January.

She won the Wimbledon title last year in emphatic fashion but has seen Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina overtake her as the main forces of women's tennis this year, with Swiatek also behind Coco Gauff in the rankings.

The Polish player does have a great record on clay, including winning four French Open titles, and with Roig in her corner, will be aiming to rediscover the form that propelled her to the top of the world rankings when she was just 20.
