"I’m still very nervous. I was very nervous coming into this match. Obviously she’s had an amazing season, until this match she hadn’t lost a match on clay so, of course, that puts a lot of pressure (on me).

"She's (Kostyuk) an amazing player, a very tough opponent and I’m just super happy with the way I played today and then I’m happy that I got revenge from the Madrid final.

Teenager Mirra Andreeva is into her maiden Grand Slam final after crushing the dreams of Marta Kostyuk.

The eighth seed produced an almost flawless display as she became the first player to defeat the Ukrainian on clay this year.

The 19-year-old Russian served out to 15 on her first match point to snap the 15th seed’s 17-match winning streak and claim victory in one hour and 16 minutes.

Andreeva will now be a strong favourite in Saturday’s final where she meet either Maja Chwalinska or Diana Shnaider.

Andreeva is known to get anxious and emotional on court, but she is poker-faced here as her backhand ignites to threaten an immediate response at 0-30.

Marta lands a clutch serve to stay in the hunt but then flashes the forehand off the island to hand over two break points.

The eighth seed delivers on the first of them as she backs up a scorching crosscourt forehand with an emphatic smash.

Andreeva blinks first in a 26-shot rally with a tough pick-up into the net after an exchange of short slices.

It feels very different all of a sudden and the eighth seed double faults to offer up triple break point.

The Russian can see the determination etched all over her opponent's face and it soon turns to delight as Mirra fires a backhand long to drop serve to love and provide Marta with a lifeline!

On TNT Sports comms, Chris Evert points out that the officials are closing the roof on Chatrier with the threat of impending rain.

Whether that impacts the dynamic of this match remains to be seen.

Kostyuk hopes to stay in it to at least see some tennis indoors as she cannons away a mid-court forehand to make Pulp, but then drags a crosscourt forehand approach into the net to hand over a break point.

An off-balance Andreeva hooks off the island to miss out and then can’t get a racquet on a rocket crosscourt forehand dripping with frustration from her opponent.

The 15th seed has the ascendancy and pulls the Russian wide to her right before finishing the game with a clean forehand to the other corner.

Marta comes out all guns blazing on the return and fires an instant forehand winner before missing the second by a whisker.

Mirra’s level appears to have dipped from that serene Set 1 display and a loose forehand flies way long to open the door ajar at 15-30.

Kostyuk has a chance in the ensuing exchange but fires the forehand long again and from there Andreeva pulls free with a smash and a plus-one forehand ensuring she remains on course.

Kostyuk battles against her own inconsistency and the demons in her head as she double faults to prolong another service game from 40-15 up.

The Ukrainian has several chances to close it out but toils continually until she finally earns the applause of the Chatrier crowd when a majestic crosscourt dropper from deep completely flummoxes her opponent and gets her back on the board

Marta unleashes a barrage of deep probing strikes off both flanks but can’t break through and ends up getting a bit of brain-freeze with a woeful slice into the net to leave herself with plenty to do at 0-30.

Andreeva comes out on top, again, in a 16-shot rally and sizzles a backhand winner down the line to tee up two more break points.

The Ukrainian staves off one with a plus-one forehand down the line and then reaches the sanctuary of deuce with a clutch first serve.

The eighth seed comes again as she steers a backhand pass down the line after a net cord worked against Kostyuk and left her in no man’s land.

Mirra can’t convert but keeps the heat on.

Kostyuk is offering more resistance now and swats away a fourth and fifth BP with some timely first serves.

Andreeva begins to get frustrated and burrows a backhand into the net and one just long to finally allow Marta on to the board.

Andreeva over-presses following one of the best baseline exchanges of the match so far but quickly gets back on track from 15-30 down with an ace down the T and another hefty serve.

Marta finds great depth and venom on a couple of fizzed returns that sit either side of a double fault.

The Ukrainian skews a poor backhand wide on the first break point and nets a return on the second before allowing the Russian to reach deuce with a tame forehand that also slumps into the net.
