It was certainly no Greek tragedy for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta's side secured a solid, if not spectacular, 2-0 win over Olympiacos to make it two wins from two in this season's UEFA Champions League league phase.
Gabriel Martielli scored from close range in the first half following great work from Viktor Gyokeres, but a threatened rout never materialised.
The visitors did have their moments over the course of 90 minutes, but the Gunners controlled the game and sealed the win courtesy of Bukayo Saka from the bench late on.
Who shone for Arsenal and who 'pulled the strings'? Here are the player ratings from the Emirates.
Arsenal player ratings v Olympiacos
David Raya - 7
- Blinding save at 1-0 to essentially win the game. Comfortably dealt with Olympiacos’ threat from crosses.
Ben White - 6
- Looked an early threat going forward but faded. Seems to still be working his way back to full fitness and was removed early in the second half.
William Saliba – 7
- Largely comfortable, although not the toughest of tests, but kept his concentration whenever tasked with any meaningful defending.
Gabriel – 7
- Very much his usual dependable self. Dealt well with the visitors’ long-ball threat and marshalled the defence well before his substitution.
Myles Lewis-Skelly - 7
- Felt like the visitors were targeting his side. One early cross aside, didn’t get to show much going forward, but grew into the game and looked comfortable in possession.
Martin Zubimendi - 8
- Set the tone from his deeper role, always wanted the ball and looked to make things happen.
Mikel Merino – 6
- Felt like a spare part for long spells with his midfield partners doing much of the work. Industrious if not impactful before going off.
Martin Odegaard - 9
- Pulled the strings and dictated the play. His brilliant first-half display should have been rewarded with more from his team-mates. Denied the goal that would have capped a real captain’s performance by a fantastic block late on, but still had time to provide the assist for Saka.

Leandro Trossard - 5
- Could not really get involved for large parts of the game. Could have done better with presentable chances in both halves.
Gabriel Martinelli - 8
- A bad early miss, but shrugged it off to soon make up for it with the opening goal. Lively display throughout and looked confident before going off in the second half.
Viktor Gyokeres – 7
- Started well and was brilliant for the Martinelli goal. Could have done better with a couple of early chances but was less involved after the break.

Subs
Declan Rice – 6
- Came on and maintained control in midfield, but not much else.
Cristhian Mosquera - 6
- Slotted in for Gabriel but hardly troubled.
Bukayo Saka – 7
- Lively during his cameo and fully deserved his goal.
Eberechi Eze - 5
- Some minutes in the legs and that is about it.
Jurrien Timber - 6
- Added some energy on the right-hand side after his introduction.
