Arsenal have moved ahead of Barcelona in the fight to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, according to AS.

The Spanish outlet claims the Premier League champions are set to open talks with Atletico over a potential deal.
Arsenal have "long admired" Alvarez, who is also a target for Barcelona after scoring 20 goals in all competitions - including 10 in the UEFA Champions League - this season.
But Atletico seemingly still have no intention of selling their star player, having publicly mocked Barcelona's attempts to move for the forward on social media.
Atletico will reportedly not let Alvarez go unless his release clause is met, so a potential deal could cost Arsenal up to €150 million (£130m).
Barcelona are not expected to be able to afford such a fee, but Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain - another interested party - could.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal are willing to break their record transfer fee to sign the former Manchester City forward.
Barca interested in Kane
If they fail to sign Alvarez, Barcelona could instead turn their attention to Harry Kane, according to Catalan outlet Sport.
Their report claims Kane is considered a "viable alternative" as the club looks for a replacement for the departing Robert Lewandowski.

Kane, who is under contract at Bayern Munich until 2027, no longer has a release clause, but the Bundesliga champions are reportedly willing to begin negotiations at €80m (£69m).
The 32-year-old's representatives are said to have had discussions with Barcelona.
Kane scored a remarkable 61 goals in all competitions for Bayern in 2025/26 and will be aiming to fire England to FIFA World Cup glory this summer.
The Three Lions captain has "not ruled out" a move to Barcelona in a deal that would mirror Lewandowski's switch to Catalonia from Munich in 2022.
Diomande yet to decide on Liverpool or PSG
RB Leizpig's in-demand winger Yan Diomande has yet to commit to either Liverpool or Paris Saint-Germain amid interest from both clubs, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Liverpool are "doing everything they can" to sign the 19-year-old before the World Cup begins, with Diomande set to feature for Cote d'Ivoire.
He has impressed in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists in 33 appearances in 2025/26.
With Mohamed Salah set for pastures new this summer, Liverpool have made Diomande - who can play on both the right and left flank - a top target.
But RB Leipzig are "relaxed" about their prized asset's future, with the club's higher-ups - including former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp - "convinced" that he will stay put and sign a new contract.
Chelsea target Juventus full-back
Chelsea are interested in signing versatile Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian outlet claims the Bianconeri could be more willing to sell the player after failing to qualify for the Champions League.
Manchester City were believed to be interested in Cambiaso, 26, who has established himself as a key player at Juventus over the last three seasons.
Primarily a left-sided defender, Cambiaso was reportedly on Pep Guardiola's radar in January 2025, with a potential price tag of €65m (£56m).
Gazzetta claims his performance levels have dipped in the time since, but he still has suitors, including Barcelona, Como and now Chelsea.
Xabi Alonso reportedly views Cambiaso as the ideal replacement for Marc Cucurella, whose future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain.
