Arsenal prepare second offer for Guimaraes
Arsenal are refusing to back down in their pursuit of Newcastle midfielder Bruno and are preparing a second formal approach.
Newcastle's hierarchy have already informed intermediaries that their club captain is strictly not for sale, but The Gunners are determined to test that resolve with an improved offer while the midfielder is away with Brazil at the World Cup.
The Mail reports: ”Arsenal are preparing a second approach to Newcastle for captain Bruno Guimaraes.
"Daily Mail Sport revealed on Thursday that the Premier League champions were interested in the midfielder and had held talks with his representatives. Those intermediaries have been told by Newcastle’s hierarchy that Guimaraes is not for sale.
”However, we understand a new proposal is now being readied and will be presented to The Magpies. It is likely that Newcastle’s stance will remain the same.
"Guimaraes is currently at the World Cup with Brazil and, while he has not told his club he wants to leave, his name being circulated around Premier League rivals has raised alarm inside St James’ Park.”
Tuchel pauses Anderson's medical
Elliot Anderson's British record £116 million transfer to Manchester City has hit a brief scheduling delay due to strict rules enforced by England manager Thomas Tuchel.
The Nottingham Forest midfielder is set to sign a five-year deal at the Etihad, but Tuchel has banned any contract or medical distractions in the immediate build-up to England's final group-stage fixture against Panama in New Jersey.
The Mirror explains: ”Elliot Anderson will have to wait to complete his £116m record move to Manchester City. England boss Thomas Tuchel is likely to allow Anderson to undergo a medical while the midfielder is at the World Cup.
”But Tuchel has made it clear that he does not want distractions the day before a game or on match day itself as England prepare to face Panama in their final Group match on Saturday.
"Nottingham Forest midfielder Anderson may then be allowed to complete the medical before England’s knockout fixtures.
"It is a record fee paid for a British player and will also break City’s transfer record with Anderson set to sign a five-year deal with a one-year extension.”
Dalot and Mazraoui content to stay at Old Trafford
Manchester United full-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have separate plans to remain at Old Trafford this summer, handing stability to Michael Carrick's defensive options.
While the club explore adding a wide forward or left-back - with Newcastle's Lewis Hall open to a move - both current right-backs are fully committed to staying put.
The Sun states: ”Manchester United right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have no plans to request a move this summer. Dalot, 27, wants to stay at United as he heads into his ninth season with the club.
"Mazraoui, 28, is also happy in Manchester despite a stop-start campaign in which he only made 11 starts.
”The club are open-minded as to whether to move for a left-back or a left-winger, having expressed interest in Crysencio Summerville at West Ham.
"Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall would be open to joining United as he wants to move to a Champions League club but he is under contract at St James’ Park until 2029.”
Brentford launch bid for Burnley's Anthony
Brentford have formalised their interest in Burnley winger Jaidon Anthony by submitting an opening transfer bid.
The Bees are prioritising wide reinforcements this summer, pivoting directly to Anthony after failing to make structural progress in their previous pursuit of FC Koln starlet Said El Mala.
The Athletic reports: ”Brentford have submitted an offer for Burnley winger Jaidon Anthony and talks are ongoing over a fee.
"One of Brentford’s priorities in this transfer window is to improve their attacking options.
”This is the second offer they have made for a winger this summer as The Athletic reported that Brentford had made a bid for FC Koln’s Said El Mala last month but no progress was made in the negotiations.”
